Cloud Security: Gaps in Skill Sets and Lack of Visibility Leaves Many Organizations Flying Blind

Findings from a CyberRisk Alliance Business Intelligence Research Study

The cloud serves as a core foundation for business operations, and the influence of the cloud resonates in nearly everything we see around us.

While many organizations aim to bolster their security by migrating to the cloud, they often encounter increased cyber risks. Some of the most common cloud security challenges are misconfigurations, insecure APIs, reduced visibility of cloud workloads, and data breaches from unauthorized access, – all of which can increase risk exposure.

Additionally, many businesses lack the in-house expertise necessary to securely configure a cloud environment and integrate cloud security tools with the rest of their IT stack.

We partnered with CyberRisk Alliance’s Business Intelligence Unit to ask security leaders and IT professionals about the opportunities and frequent pain points they encounter on their cloud adoption journey.

Some notable findings from the survey include:

  • Only 43% of respondents have more than half their workloads in the cloud.
  • 46% of respondents saw one or more of their cloud platforms become compromised in the past 12 months.
