eSentire appoints former Palo Alto Networks CEO Lane Bess to Board

CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO – December 11, 2018 – eSentire, Inc., the largest pure-play Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider, today announced that Lane Bess, principal and founder of Bess Ventures and Advisory, has joined its Board of Directors. Bess brings more than 30 years of experience as an operational executive with deep network and cloud security expertise. He has successfully launched technology startups, grown medium-size businesses to large scale enterprises and provided critical technology solutions to Fortune 2000 companies.

Prior to founding Bess Ventures and Advisory in 2015, Bess was the chief operating officer of Zscaler Inc., a leader in cloud-based Internet security services. From 2008 to 2011, Bess was the chief executive officer of global cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks where he led the company’s late-stage fundraising and scaled the company from its early go-to-market to a revenue run rate exceeding $200 million on the path to IPO.

Prior to Palo Alto Networks, Bess served as the EVP of worldwide sales and general manager of publicly traded Trend Micro Inc. (Nikkei) where he grew worldwide revenues to over $1 billion annually. He has extensive experience building technology businesses internationally, including in Europe and Asia. His considerable work in the security technology sector has made him a trusted advisor for many enterprise CIOs and CISOs.
