What is Vulnerability Scanning?

April 25, 2024 | 1 MIN READ

Vulnerability scanning is a test that hunts for known vulnerabilities in your internal and external environment automatically as part of an overall Vulnerability Management service. At the end of each test, you’re provided with report that lists all found vulnerabilities along with recommendations for patching them.

Since vulnerability scanning is automated, its only job is to identify the vulnerability. It doesn’t help discover the root cause (unlike a penetration test), nor does it confirm that any vulnerabilities found can be exploited.
